Who is Erika…
Erika Footman started singing at 12 when she sang with the English National Opera, which started her passion for singing and performance. She later studied classical and contemporary music.
Writing songs pre-teens to recording and performing, Erika has a wealth of experience performing from Opera, musical theatre, soul, pop, metal, rock, punk, ska, hip-hop, prog and everything in-between.
Erika has lectured at ACM and continues to lecture at BIMM and ICMP and has guest lectured and curated masterclasses across the world specialising in Performance, Creative Artistry, Song writing, and vocals .
In 2009 Erika released her first album on her own label as iMMa, which sparked her love and passion for being an Independent Artist, having full creative control and being able to mould her career for her lifestyle and passion for music.
As an Independent Artist, Erika found that sometimes a lot of the decision making could get quite lonely, procrastination could creep in, mistakes were made and there was a lot of blood sweat and tears. Over the years artists have looked to Erika for guidance and this has really sparked her love for coaching and mentoring artists, in hope that they won’t feel as unsupported as she did at times.
Her voice has also caught the attention of some established artists. She is currently a touring multi-instrumentalist for Skunk Anansie, backing & guest vocalist for Japanese artist, Hotei, has toured extensively with MIKA as his backing singer and recorded a guest vocal on two tracks with #1 UK artist, Bastille.
What is the Creative Courage Circle?
The Creative Courage Circle started during the pandemic as Erika had a strong desire to continue connecting with fellow creatives, art and music lovers. The Creative Courage Circle is a mash up of a Nashville style songwriting circle and a “women’s circle” with questions created by activist and artist Cleo Wade curated for women to be able to talk openly, honestly and without feedback to be heard and held in the round.
The 3 questions:
What is your brag? (A chance to tell us how great you are).
What are you grateful for? (A chance to reflect)
What do you desire (for yourself)? (Set an intention for your future).
